Congratulations (and Good Luck) to Dale V. Stephenson and her students as they advance to the North Carolina Mock Trial State Championship!
Earlier this month, Ward Family Law Group attorney, Dale V. Stephenson, along with fellow attorney, Chris Nichols, coached two Broughton High School Mock Trial teams at the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ) High School Mock Trial Regional Competition; one of which was crowned as Raleigh Regional Champion 2024.
Dale’s winning team, this year consisting of one senior, three juniors, and two sophomores, will advance to compete in the North Carolina State Championship on March 15-16th, held at Campbell Law School.
In a “mock trial”, student teams present an entire trial to seasoned attorneys who serve as the presiding judge and jury. There are multiple rounds of competition. Students play the roles of lawyers and witnesses and must be prepared to present the plaintiff or defendant’s side in each round. This year’s case was a homicide case. As the students present their case, they are scored based on their knowledge and understanding of their role, ability to present legal arguments, and public speaking.
Dale has coached mock trial to the high school students at Broughton High School since 2016. Her work with the mock trial program is invaluable and demonstrates Dale’s commitment to the legal profession and her community.
Please join us in congratulating Dale and her students for this outstanding achievement – along with wishing them good luck in the State Championship! We are proud of Dale and her continued dedication to inspiring the minds of the next generation of lawyers.
